I am a Junior in high school who enjoys parks and playgrounds. However with all the regulations that have now been put in parks and their construction they are not as fun as they once were. Teeter totters should be in more parks because who doesn’t love teeter totters. They may have their ups and downs but overall what is not to enjoy. Yeah a couple kids may get hurt from falling off. But as a kid if you are not getting scraped and bruised playing in parks you are doing something wrong. A fellow student of mine Alex Sutherland said “why did the chicken cross the playground? Obviously the chicken crossed the playground to get to the other slide.” This quote may seem irrelevant, however it relates to children's actions. They easily get distracted and don’t always stick with a game or certain piece of playground equipment. Or they get distracted all together by all of the playgrounds attractions. This results in kids playing video games or staying inside instead. Again leading to obesity in children.
During my research of this topic I learned the opposition's side of the argument and I can now agree with some of the rules that have been put in place and I understand why. However, my opinion about the safety in parks has stayed the same. Children gain many tools from parks, and need an element of danger to really emphasise and further convey learning topics.
